Livestream, Sound, and Event

Finally got the USB sound card I ordered so now I can work around my broken microphone jack and get some sound when we stream MHP3. I worked out some bugs with it and played around with the resolution and bitrate, so now we have decent quality overall. The video itself is a bit fuzzy, but it doesn't lag up as much as it used to - as least thats what I think. If you go on the Livestream page you can see there's three tests. The first had the original resolution (4:3) and 400kbps with keyframes every 2 seconds. The second has the native PSP resolution and 500kbps with keyframes every 1 second. Definitely did NOT have this conversation with Black... Going to be out for a few days. So heres a comic. Also took like 10 minutes to make. Maps are a little delayed due in part to playing the game on AdHoc Party... but oh well. It seems that there are other sites with maps already, and we have the ones that are up now, so it basically just boils down to aesthetics. Seeing as most people just want functional maps, I think that desire has been fulfilled. But for those that are looking forward to the higher res maps, they will be up. First Final-Version Map Posted in the Map Section, Livestream Reminder

Its about 48 minutes later than promised (from my timezone at least), but progress is progress either way. I like the way the new version of the maps came along. Much cleaner, smoother, and easier to read. The next few maps should be up over the next week or so. Once they're all done, they'll probably go onto GameFAQs unless they have some policy over there that would ban us or something for posting it. I'm going to read up a bit on that since 'them mod ain't none bit too friendly'. Monster Hunter Livestream Updates and Map Preview

Theres a few news announcements, for Livestream primarily. Tomorrow [December 7th, 2010] we will be hosting an event while we hunt Giant Jho. So for those of you who don't have MH Tri, or just want to watch us get nommed by a huge dinosaur. Come watch at HawkBlog Livestream at the noted time. New Map Layout Has Been Finalized, and Announcements

As the title suggests, we have picked a new layout and overall design of the maps, for increased legibility and clarity. Expect much higher resolution images with easily discernible icons for quick and easy use. It takes about an hour or so to convert each map to the new layout, and a half hour or so to transcribe the gather locations, so it will take some time. Also there will be another run or two for each map as a quality check, so I put the ETA at sometime this coming Saturday, Dec 11th. Also the next MHP3 livestream event may also be this weekend. What to Do Next...?

So the first scheduled stream was a great success. A good many people showed up and our jolly crew discovered and saw many-a-thing in MHP3. But the question remains: what to do now? I was thinking maybe doing something with Red Dead. Either just doing some good 'ol zombies or maybe doing a short video about shoving hookers  into table/innocent bystanders into oncoming wagons/inventors who construct gliders near dangerous cliffs... oh the possibilities! I did rent Epic Mickey, but have yet to try it. I've heard mixed reviews, but we'll see. Mayhap I'll do a review of it. Either way, Black should be coming up with something soon....
